Japan’s Icebreaker Arrives

Japan’s Icebreaker, Shirase, reached Showa Station, on East Ongul Island in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica, 69° 0′ 0″ S, 39° 35′ 0″ E, so hooray for Japan!

“Japan’s 57th expedition to Antarctica will officially take over from the current team in late February and spend the next year conducting research.”

Off topic a bit, but I wonder if there is any affiliation between these folks and the controversial whaling that takes place by the Japanese?

One by one, the penguins steal my sanity!
